Catch and aquaculture production data were extracted from FAO fishery summary statistics.  The year 2000 was selected as the reference year for the purposes of the African Marine Atlas and all data were digitized to illustrate total catch (in tons) and aquaculture production (in tons) for all marine species for coastal African countries.
