Seagrasses are flowering marine plants that generally occur in shallow, low-energy environments on sandy or muddy substrate. 

The African Marine Atlas project is developing partnerships with seagrass data providers. No seagrass datasets are available for direct download, but a link is provided to the UNEP WCMC World Atlas of Seagrasses, an excellent resource of seagrass data.
